That's his story and he's sticking to it.

(CC News) -- In a surprising, new development in the case of the Montebello undercover police officers, Public Security Minister Stockwell Day stunned everyone by revealing a hitherto unknown piece of information.

"The thing that was interesting in this particular incident, three people in question were spotted by protesters because were not engaging in violence," Day said.

"They were being encouraged to throw rocks and they were not throwing rocks, it was the protesters who were throwing the rocks. That's the irony of this," Day said.

To prove his point to assembled reporters, Day showed a brief video clip of the event, during which both protest organizer Dave Coles and several other attendees could clearly be seen and heard screaming at the undercover officer in question to drop the rock he was holding. "See what I mean?" said Day to bewildered journalists after the video had ended.

Asked for his opinion on this new revelation, QPP officer Inspector Marcel Savard replied, "Well, I have to admit, we're all a bit relieved that the minister stepped up on this one. Frankly, we were running out of plausible lies. Hell, we were running out of implausible lies, so for the minister to come out with this obviously ridiculous howler to take the heat off of us, well, that shows you what kind of man he is -- someone who's not afraid to lie outrageously for the right reasons."

Asked for comment on Day's bizarre and utterly unfounded allegations, the 350 members of Canada's right-wing blogging community, the "Blogging Tories," were strangely enough all out at the movies.
